RIGBY ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS OF MARIA GIL AND STEVEN ‘MONTY’ MONTEITH

London gunmaker John Rigby & Co. has announced two senior promotions as the company continues to mark its 250th anniversary year. Steven ‘Monty’ Monteith has been appointed Director of Operations, while Maria Gil has taken on the role of Sales Director.

Monty joined Rigby in July 2023 as Head of Compliance, bringing with him significant operational experience from a distinguished military background. A former commander of the Operational Coordination Centre in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, he was responsible for managing efficiency in complex environments – skills that Rigby says translate seamlessly into the company ’s exacting standards.

In his new position, Monty will support Managing Director Marc Newton in the safe and efficient running of the business, helping Rigby uphold its longstanding traditions while identifying areas for innovation.

Commenting on his new role, Monty said: “This is an exciting chapter in the history of Rigby, and I am thrilled to take on a significant role in shaping its future. As we move past 250 years of Rigby, it is vital we maintain the great traditions the company was built upon while also refining processes and adopting modern techniques where they can enhance efficiency and quality. Our 250th anniversary celebrations mark a pivotal milestone and a chance to show the world what makes Rigby so beloved by customers from around the world. I’m immensely proud to be a part of the celebrations and am looking forward to seeing our guests gathered at HMS Victory in May.”

Maria Gil, who joined Rigby in 2016 and most recently served as Sales Manager, now steps into the role of Sales Director. She will lead the company’s sales strategy and work closely with clients and partners across the global market.

Speaking on her promotion, Maria said: “My journey at Rigby began in 2016, a truly pivotal moment in my career. I’ve been fortunate to witness our remarkable growth firsthand, from a close -knit team to the dynamic force of over 30 dedicated professionals we are today. This year, as we commemorate Rigby’s 250th anniversary, holds particular significance. It’s a profound honour to step into the role of Sales Director during such a historic milestone.

“Contributing to Rigby’s ongoing evolution while honouring its rich legacy is a privilege. Throughout my time here, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with countless talented individuals, learning from their expertise and sharing in our collective achievements. I’m incredibly excited to lead our sales team into this new chapter, building upon the strong foundation we’ve established. This anniversary serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy we uphold, a testament to the dedication of generations past and present.”

Rigby Managing Director Marc Newton added: “Both Monty and Maria have demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership, and I am incredibly proud to recognise their hard work with these well-earned promotions. Rigby is built on its people, and investing in talent is essential to our continued success. As we celebrate our 250th anniversary, these appointments mark an exciting step forward in our journey.”
