The UK’s largest shooting organisation and the nation’s oldest weekly shooting publication unite in landmark deal worth more than £11.2 million to members
The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) and Time Well Spent Group Limited have announced an historic partnership that will see BASC’s 150,000 members receive complimentary digital access to Shooting Times & Country Magazine, Britain’s only weekly shooting publication.
The deal, worth £74.95 per member and representing a combined value of more than £11.2 million, makes Shooting Times & Country an official partner publication of BASC and establishes the title as a benefit of BASC membership. This new benefit will be available from Monday 27 April 2026.
Under the terms of the exclusive three-year agreement, all BASC membership categories will receive full, free access to the digital edition of Shooting Times & Country through a state-of-the-art dedicated online platform. Members simply log in using their BASC membership number, no app download is required. The platform offers an article-view newsfeed, an optional page-turner format, and listen-to-article functionality, ensuring content is accessible however and wherever members choose to read or listen.
Established in 1882, Shooting Times & Country Magazine has served the British shooting community for over 144 years, delivering breaking news, trusted reviews, competitions, expert analysis and countryside content. The publication features gear reviews and specialist coverage of shooting, gamekeeping, gundogs, cookery and conservation from the most sought-after storytellers and thought leaders in the field.
BASC chief executive Ian Bell said: “I’m pleased to announce this new partnership, which will give BASC members free access to the digital edition of Shooting Times. It’s a strong addition to the overall value of BASC’s sector-leading membership package, giving members direct access to one of the UK’s leading shooting publications.”
Simon K Barr, Chief Executive Officer of Time Well Spent Group, said: “Publishing is changing, and our responsibility as custodians of Shooting Times & Country Magazine is to evolve with it. Readers want access to great journalism on their terms - when they want it, where they want it. Giving 150,000 BASC members free digital access compliments the print product perfectly and ensures the title remains the essential, go-to source for shooting and countryside news and analysis for generations to come.”
The partnership preserves full editorial independence for Shooting Times & Country, while formalising its position as BASC’s official partner publication.
