The Gun Trade Association has recorded its busiest month on record, reflecting growing operational and regulatory pressures across the UK firearms trade.
Chief executive Stephen Jolly told Gun Trade Insider: “March was GTA’s busiest month on record. We delivered seven member broadcasts, covering Parcelforce, moderators, fraudulent certification, lead restrictions and stolen air guns. Our help desk received its highest ever number of calls: 52 substantive inquiries, of which 32 related directly to Parcelforce and its reintegration into Royal Mail, over the course of the month”.
The figures highlight the level of disruption reported around firearms-related deliveries, as retailers and distributors seek greater clarity during Parcelforce’s ongoing transition following its reintegration into Royal Mail.
Alongside logistics concerns, the GTA’s increased communications activity highlights the breadth of issues currently affecting the trade, including compliance, licensing and ongoing regulatory developments.
The rise in help desk enquiries suggests businesses are increasingly turning to the association for guidance as they navigate a more complex and uncertain operating environment.
