The discussion focused on issues linked to the rollout of the Click & Drop system, which the GTA said had caused disruption for Registered Firearms Dealers. The association highlighted the operational impact on businesses, while also stressing the importance of maintaining secure and reliable handling of firearms consignments.
Parcelforce acknowledged the concerns raised and confirmed that delivery performance remains a priority. The company stated that Click & Drop had been introduced across all sectors and not specific to the firearms trade. Also, no changes had been made to the physical delivery process.
It was agreed that changes to “scan events” had reduced visibility for firearms shipments. Parcelforce confirmed that scanning at the point of collection is now being reinstated to improve tracking and end-to-end oversight.
The GTA was also informed that the WDMO system has now been decommissioned, with Click & Drop operating as its replacement.
Parcelforce outlined a number of steps aimed at improving service levels, including the introduction of a firearms-specific ad hoc collection service designed to enhance security and reliability. The company also confirmed that new scanners with updated software have been deployed, with all firearms consignments now expected to be scanned at collection.
The company acknowledged that dealers using third-party platforms or bespoke integrations may experience additional challenges during the transition period and encouraged members to raise any issues through dedicated support channels.
Parcelforce also confirmed that it is working to develop a process for onboarding new firearms account holders, although no confirmed timeline has yet been provided.
In relation to missing or incorrectly delivered firearms, Parcelforce stated that such cases are being prioritised by its firearms team, with same-day investigation and resolution targeted where possible.
The GTA said it will continue to work closely with Parcelforce to monitor progress and ensure that service levels meet the needs of the trade. A follow-up meeting has been scheduled for 24 April to review developments.
Parcelforce has also introduced dedicated support for firearms-related queries, including a specialist helpdesk covering ad hoc collections, tracking queries and missed collections. Dealers can contact the Firearms Helpdesk at firearms. helpdesk@parcelforce.co.uk.
