HIGH-MARGIN, HIGH-PRECISION: Meet BRK’s Ghost SE

Gun Trade Insider visited the BRK and Daystate facility in Staffordshire for an exclusive first look at the new Ghost Special Edition. On the factory floor, Tony Belas and foreman Phil Eardley guided us through the latest evolution of the Ghost platform and explained why it matters to the UK trade.

British airgun manufacturer BRK will unveil the Ghost SE at the BRK-Brocock Experience Day on 3 July 2025. Building on the core Ghost platform, the SE introduces a number of key enhancements aimed at long-range performance, accessory compatibility and visual appeal, positioning it as a profitable, premium-tier product for airgun retailers.

ATTRACTIVE DEALER MARGINS WITH NO MINIMUMS

According to Tony, BRK has structured its dealer pricing model to prioritise profitability, particularly important for specialist shops serving discerning shooters.

“BRK margins for dealers are highly competitive, with additional discounts for premier dealers that stock the full range,” he said. “Unlike some brands, we don’t require minimum gun orders. We know how important it is for shops to meet customer demand quickly, even if that means ordering just one gun.”

The Ghost SE carries a UK sub-12 ft/lb RRP of £1,950, with higher-power FAC versions ranging from £1,975 to £2,090 depending on barrel length. BRK encourages dealers to focus on the rifle’s technical and aesthetic advantages rather than engaging in discount-led selling.

“This is where dealers can make a living,” said Tony. “Premium products deliver better margins, and that’s vital in a market where entry-level price points are razor-thin.”

PERMANENT MODEL WITH LONG-TERM SALES POTENTIAL

While the SE is labelled a “Special Edition,” it is not a limited run. As with previous SE variants, production will continue as long as there is demand.

“We retain SE models until interest wanes, then they are deleted,” explained Tony. “But this is a significant evolution of the Ghost platform, and we expect it to have strong traction.”

To ensure a smooth launch, BRK alerted premier dealers around six weeks in advance, giving them time to plan stock orders and campaigns.

COMPREHENSIVE MARKETING TOOLKIT FOR STOCKISTS

To support sell-through, BRK has released a press pack featuring high-resolution product images, specifications, video explainers and branding assets. Dealers are free to customise the content for print, web or social use.

“Our dealers can tailor the materials to suit their campaigns, whether that’s social posts, printed POS, or email outreach,” said Tony.

Post-launch, additional content will be released to maintain momentum and help dealers convey the Ghost SE’s performance benefits.

BUILT FOR BENCHREST, ENGINEERED FOR PRECISION

Technically, the Ghost SE introduces a number of upgrades, most notably a tensioned barrel system, available on high-power models, which was originally developed for international benchrest competition.

“A tensioned barrel can improve accuracy, especially when long silencers are used,” said Tony. “This system was developed for world championship benchrest use and is now production-ready.”

Further enhancements include a revised rear chassis, extended top and bottom ARCA and M-LOK race rails, the Gecko recoil pad, a race-style twin-clamp optic rail and a performance cocking lever.

“This rifle is built for stability,” said Phil ???, production manager at BRK. “It’s aimed at shooters who want precision off the bench. With the M-LOK rail system, users can fit bipods or tripods with ease. It’s not designed for field use, but for target and range shooters, it’s ideal.”

FULLY MODULAR WITH HIGH ACCESSORY SALES POTENTIAL

As with the standard Ghost, the SE is a modular platform. All existing Ghost accessories are compatible, along with several new items including a redesigned single-shot loader, included as standard.

“We’ve seen a huge rise in sales of Ghost-specific accessories,” Tony said. “No other rifle in our range has as many official upgrades. It makes the Ghost SE a real platform product, with scope for ongoing add-on sales.”

REAL-WORLD PERFORMANCE AND CUSTOMER APPEAL

Beyond the technical specifications, the Ghost SE is designed to deliver a premium shooting experience that appeals to both precision sport shooters and high-end enthusiasts. The visual styling, enhanced by its unique finish and matching ML silencer, makes it a standout product in-store and on the range.

“People notice it at the bench,” said Phil. “It has presence. It’s one of those rifles that gets people talking, especially once they’ve tried it.”

The combination of power, stability and modular design means customers can tune the SE for a wide range of shooting scenarios, from pest control to club competition. The sub-12 version remains compliant for UK use without requiring an FAC, while the high-power (HP) variants offer serious ballistic performance, particularly in larger calibres like .25 and .30.

“These rifles appeal to shooters who want to personalise their setup,” said Tony. “It’s not just about accuracy, it’s about ownership, control and pride in their kit. Dealers who understand that mindset will find a very engaged customer base.”

TESTED IN THE FIELD, BACKED BY THE FACTORY

Development of the Ghost SE has been shaped not just by BRK’s in-house engineers, but by two vital user groups: the Accuracy Research Team (ART) and the Airgun Support Pack (ASP).

“All BRK rifles go through extensive testing by both internal engineers and the ART, which is made up of serious Daystate and BRK enthusiasts from around the world,” explained Tony. “They quietly evaluate every model under real-world conditions and feed their insights back to the design team.”

In parallel, the ASP acts as BRK’s public-facing support unit. These sponsored shooters don’t just provide technical feedback, they engage directly with the airgun community online, answering questions, providing setup advice and promoting the rifles through regular content.

“Unlike the ART, which operates behind the scenes, ASP shooters are visible to the customer,” said Tony. “They’re an essential part of how we maintain a strong, informed community around our rifles and a key channel for product improvement.” refinement, dealers can be confident that the Ghost SE isn’t just a one-off concept, it’s a fully matured platform, tested, supported and ready to perform.

BUILT IN BRITAIN BY HAND

Each Ghost SE is assembled at BRK’s facility in Staffordshire. The rifle’s one-piece aluminium monocoque chassis is milled from a single block, offering exceptional strength and simplicity of service.

“With fewer pressure points and six load-bearing screws, it’s easier to maintain and keep consistent,” said Phil. “Each rifle takes around an hour and twenty minutes to build, about 266 components go into every one.”

One noteworthy production refinement is the switch from brass to stainless steel for the cocking mechanism pin, driven by cosmetic wear issues and improved via a new ball-bearing system.

“We turned a minor issue into a performance upgrade,” said Phil. “It’s extremely durable.” Premium appeal, practical profit Tony is candid about the rifle’s positioning: it won’t be a high-volume seller, but it offers high-margin sales with strong appeal to knowledgeable enthusiasts.

“Smaller shops can’t survive selling low-end kit on paper-thin margins,” he said. “Prestige models like the SE give retailers a chance to make real profit while selling a product that genuinely excites the customer.”

With configurations spanning sub-12 and FAC versions in .177, .22, .25 and .30 calibres, and a modular architecture that encourages repeat custom, the Ghost SE is designed for profitable retail engagement.

“Some customers own multiple Ghosts, each set up for a specific purpose,” said Phil. “Rather than change accessories, they have rifles configured for each task. That speaks volumes about how well this platform works.”

MAXIMUM EFFECTIVE RANGE
The maximum effective range of a rifle has been a hotly debated topic for many years. Many of us will have seen such posts on internet forums. One person being mocked for their suggestion that their .308Win is only good for 800m. Another called out for being a liar because their claim of 2000m seems absurd! In truth they may both be right and it comes down to how we define “max range” and the context around it. Paul Bradley explains…
