The Worshipful Company of Gunmakers, incorporated by Royal Charter in 1637, governs the London Proof House and has a statutory duty to regulate the safety of firearms in the United Kingdom. Its work includes proof testing firearms before sale and certifying deactivated firearms. Testing takes place both at the London Proof House and, when required, at client locations across the UK and internationally.

POSITION BEING RECRUITED:

Proof Assistant (Zero-hours contract)

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

The Proof Assistant will support the safe handling, testing, and inspection of firearms for military, police, and civilian markets, including modern and historic firearms. Duties include receiving and recording consignments, maintaining accurate records, conducting viewing, gauging, test firing and inspection procedures, assisting with engraving/ marking, supporting Proof House tours when required, and following all Health and Safety and Standard Operating Procedures. The role involves working closely with the Proof Master and wider team, maintaining workshop standards and ISO9001 procedures, and undertaking additional tasks as directed. Candidates must demonstrate careful firearms handling, attention to detail, professionalism, discretion, and a strong commitment to safety. Background checks will be carried out.

PLACE OF WORK:

London Proof House, Commercial Road, London, E1 (with occasional offsite work in the UK and overseas)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

No specific formal qualification is stated, but candidates must demonstrate safe firearms handling ability, reliability, attention to detail, and a professional attitude. Training on the Rules of Proof and engraving/marking will be provided, and confidentiality agreements must be signed.

SALARY:

£148 per day (zero-hours contract).

London Gun Company is recruiting for a sales advisor to support retail sales and customer service within a regulated firearms retail environment. Key duties and responsibilities include:

• Meet and greet customers, providing a welcoming and professional service

• Offer advice on firearms, ammunition and shooting accessories to help customers select suitable products

• Educate customers on firearm safety, storage regulations and legal compliance

• Process and manage firearm sales in line with UK firearms laws and licensing requirements

• Input customer orders and firearm details into the internal CRM system, ensuring accuracy and compliant documentation

• Conduct stock checks and ensure secure storage of firearms and shooting equipment in accordance with regulations

• Assist with merchandising and product displays, ensuring firearms and accessories are presented attractively and safely

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong understanding of firearms, ammunition and shooting equipment is highly desirable (training can be provided)

• Professional and responsible approach to shotgun and firearm handling and sales

• Strong attention to detail, particularly around paperwork, licensing and compliance

• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues

• Ability to remain calm and focused in a regulated retail environment

• Previous retail or trade sales experience is advantageous but not essential

• Knowledge of UK firearm laws and regulations is desirable (training will be provided)

POSITION BEING RECRUITED:

Sales and logistics administration.

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

This role combines customer sales and operational logistics within the largest UK shotgun cartridge retailer operating its own delivery network. Sales duties include handling inbound phone orders and online orders, processing payments, managing customer accounts, and advising customers on cartridge selection. Logistics responsibilities focus on day to day planning for our Oxfordshire and Midlands depots, which together handle around 50% of total order volume. This includes planning driver schedules, coordinating delivery routes, and liaising with warehouse and operations teams to ensure orders are dispatched accurately and on time. The role will suit someone organised, confident on the phone, and comfortable working across both customer facing and operational tasks in a fast paced environment.

At our main warehouse near Witney in Oxfordshire.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

An interest in the countryside, outdoor lifestyle and country pursuits is essential; shooting experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

SALARY:
