The Gun Trade Association (GTA) has become an official signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, formalising its commitment to support serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families across the UK.
The Covenant is a national pledge recognising the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces Community. It is not a charity but a promise made by government, business and individuals to ensure that no member of the military community is disadvantaged in daily life due to their service.
Paul Green, technical director at the GTA, told Gun Trade Insider: “As a signatory, the GTA is now committed to uphold the Armed Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community. We recognise the contribution that service personnel, both regular and reservist, veterans and military families make to our organisation, our community and to the country.”
The Covenant encourages support from across society to help military personnel and their families enjoy the same access to services and opportunities as any other citizen. In some cases, such as those involving injury or bereavement, special consideration may be appropriate.
By signing the Covenant, the GTA has pledged to promote the Armed Forces through its platforms, offer career support to veterans and reservists, provide additional leave for staff involved in cadet organisations, and back national awareness days including Armed Forces Day and Remembrance events.
“As the GTA, we will offer assistance and advice to the Armed Forces Community via our RFD training courses, help desk and recruitment into the gun trade,” Green added.
The Covenant was formally signed on behalf of the GTA by CEO Stephen Jolly on 2 June 2025.
