AUSTRALIAN RIGHTS COALITION FORMED
A new advocacy group focused on protecting access to outdoor activities has launched in Perth, reporting more than 200 members within its first weeks. The Australian Rights Coalition (ARC) aims to counter what it describes as growing government interference across the “five Fs” of firearms, fishing, four-wheel driving, farming and forestry. ARC was founded by former Western Australia Upper House MP Louise Kingston and is supported by Shooters Union WA State Advocate Steve Harrison. Around 70 attendees were present at the group’s launch meeting on November 22, including speakers from several political parties as well as academic representation.
Speakers emphasized concerns about regulatory overreach and highlighted the perceived need for an organisation focused on holding policymakers accountable. ARC has adopted a structure similar to the WA Speedway Association, using a board of commissioners to oversee operations and allow attention to multiple sectors.
