UNLOCKING INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS: STEFANIE LEEGE PREVIEWS IWA 2025

IWA 2025 is on the horizon, and with it comes significant opportunities for the British market. Around 30 UK-based companies will be presenting their innovations in Nuremberg, Germany, joined by around 1,000 attendees from the UK. Gun Trade Insider seized the opportunity to speak with Stefanie Leege, event director of IWA, about the upcoming show.

Gun Trade Insider (GTI): Stefanie, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. IWA OutdoorClassics has been an important event for the hunting and shooting sports industry for over 50 years. How can British manufacturers and retailers benefit from participating in IWA OutdoorClassics, particularly in terms of accessing new markets and forming international partnerships?

Stefanie Leege (SL): Thank you for having me. IWA OutdoorClassics offers British manufacturers and retailers a unique platform to showcase their products to an international audience. By participating in IWA, British companies can access new markets and form valuable international partnerships. The fair attracts visitors and exhibitors from over 120 countries, providing an excellent opportunity to build and strengthen global business relationships. Additionally, IWA offers special networking events and B2B meetings designed to facilitate exchanges between international partners. This can help British companies expand their market presence and discover new business opportunities.

GTI: What specific programmes or initiatives does IWA offer to support British companies in addressing current challenges in the hunting and shooting sports market?

SL: IWA is aware of the current challenges in the hunting and shooting sports market, and has developed several programmes and initiatives to support British companies. A notable example is our extensive lecture programme, which provides insights into market trends, regulatory changes, and innovative business strategies. These lectures are delivered by industry experts and offer valuable information to help British companies adapt to changing market conditions. Additionally, we offer special workshops and seminars focused on the needs of retailers and manufacturers. These events provide practical advice and strategies to address current challenges and seize new business opportunities. Another important element is the SHOOTING EXPERTS’ Stage, where industry experts share their experiences and best practices. This platform allows British companies to learn from the best in the industry and develop innovative approaches to improve their business strategies.

GTI: What new trends and innovations in the field of hunting and sports firearms can British visitors expect to see at IWA 2025, and how might these developments impact the British market?

SL: IWA 2025 will showcase a variety of new trends and innovations in the field of hunting and sports firearms that could also impact the British market. One significant trend we are observing is the increasing integration of technology into hunting and sports firearms. This includes advanced optics, digital targeting systems, and smart ammunition that enhance precision and efficiency. British visitors can look forward to the latest developments in these areas and see how these technologies can improve their hunting and shooting experiences. Another important trend is sustainability. Many manufacturers are increasingly using environmentally friendly materials and production methods to reduce the ecological footprint of their products. These sustainable innovations are not only good for the environment but can also strengthen the brand image and market position of British companies. Additionally, IWA 2025 will feature special areas such as the BLADE Demo Area and the AIRSOFT Shooting Area, where the latest products and technologies will be demonstrated live. These interactive presentations offer British visitors the opportunity to experience the latest innovations first-hand and see how they can be applied in their own markets.

GTI: How would you describe the overall experience of attending IWA for British visitors? What makes it a must-attend event?

SL: Attending IWA is an exciting experience that goes beyond a typical trade show. The exhibition is designed to be both informative and engaging, with a variety of activities tailored to different interests and professional needs. Our guided tours and virtual navigation tools help visitors make the most of their time, ensuring they don’t miss out on key exhibits and sessions. The sense of community and shared passion for the industry is palpable, making IWA a unique and enriching experience. For anyone involved in the hunting and shooting sports sector, attending IWA is not just beneficial – it’s essential.

GTI: Given the current market conditions, what message would you like to convey to British manufacturers and retailers who are considering attending IWA 2025?

SL: My message to British manufacturers and retailers is one of optimism and resilience. While the market may be facing challenges, events like IWA provide a beacon of hope and opportunity. By coming together, we can share knowledge, discover new solutions, and build stronger networks that will help us weather the storm. I encourage everyone to take advantage of the resources and opportunities available at IWA to rejuvenate their businesses and stay ahead of the curve. Together, we can navigate these challenging times and emerge stronger.
