GMK has announced the death of its founder, Bjorn Waktare, who established the company more than five decades ago.
Bjorn founded GMK in 1971 and oversaw its development into one of the UK gun trade’s leading distributors. A well-known and distinctive figure within the industry, he was also a keen supporter and participant in shooting sports, with a particular passion for sporting clays.
Announcing his death, GMK said: “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Bjorn Waktare, GMK’s founder. Bjorn started GMK in 1971 and went on to grow the company into what it has become today.
“He was a true entrepreneur and larger than life character, in every sense of the word. He loved shooting in any form, but particularly Sporting Clays in any format.
“He will be sorely missed by present and past employees of GMK, his four children and thirteen grandchildren.”
