GMK has introduced a new cashback promotion designed to help its dealer network capitalise on the recent removal of sound moderators from firearms licensing controls.
GMK has launched a trade-in promotion offering customers £25 cashback when replacing an old centrefire sound moderator with a new model from Stalon, Hausken or Vanward.
Running from 3 August until 31 December, the scheme provides participating retailers with an opportunity to encourage customers to replace older, damaged or less efficient moderators while generating additional activity across the distributor’s three moderator brands.
The timing follows the removal of sound moderators from the definition of a firearm under the Firearms Act 1968. The legislative change came into force on 30 June, meaning moderators no longer have to be listed separately on a firearm certificate.
Previously, a certificate holder wishing to replace a moderator generally needed to apply for a variation before purchasing the replacement. That administrative requirement could discourage customers from upgrading units that were still functional but had become heavy, corroded or less effective through prolonged use.
Removing the variation process has made moderator replacement considerably more straightforward, creating a potential sales opportunity for firearms dealers. Retailers can now discuss moderator condition, weight, calibre suitability and performance with customers without the transaction being delayed by licensing administration.
GMK’s promotion gives dealers an additional reason to contact existing rifle customers and encourage them to review moderators that may have been in use for several seasons. It could also generate associated sales in rifle maintenance products, cleaning equipment and other accessories.
The offer applies when an old centrefire moderator is traded in against a qualifying new Stalon, Hausken or Vanward unit. Customers will then receive £25 cashback under the terms of the promotion.
