The National Rifle Association (NRA) has announced the passing of former chairman Robin Pizer, who died earlier this morning.
Robin served as chairman of the Association from 2009 to 2013 and remained an active and respected presence within the sport throughout his life. His contribution to target shooting extended well beyond administration, with a competitive career that earned him recognition at both national and international level.
A member of the Manchester Rifle Club and the Uppingham Veterans Rifle Club, Robin was particularly known for his achievements in match rifle shooting. He won the Hopton in 1980 and represented England several times in the Elcho Shield during that period.
His leadership within the sport was equally significant. Robin captained the Great Britain team to victory in the Kolapore Cup in 2009 and also captained England teams in the 1990 National and the 1991 Mackinnon.
He was also a past president of the English XX Club and served as honorary secretary of the Council of the National Match for many years, remaining in the role up to the time of his death.
Robin Pizer is remembered for his longstanding contribution to target shooting, both as a competitor and in his work supporting the organisation and development of the sport.
