POSITION BEING RECRUITED:

Airfield Wildlife Control Operator

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

The Airfield Wildlife Control Operator (AWCO) plays a key role in maintaining flight safety by deterring birds and wildlife from settling on or around the airfield. Working within strict environmental and legal guidelines, the operator uses a range of tools including 4x4 vehicles, bioacoustics, pyrotechnics and, when necessary, air rifles or shotguns.:

RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, South East

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Full UK manual driving licence (essential)

• Must live within a 45-minute drive of RAF Brize Norton

• Must be colour perception safe

• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance

• Comfortable using basic technology (tablet and WhatsApp)

• Must be able to obtain and maintain shotgun and/or firearms certificates (assistance provided)

• Previous shooting experience advantageous but not essential:

SALARY:

£12.60 per hour

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

This is a varied and customer-facing position supporting the daily operations of the Sporting Rifle and Academy department. Working alongside the department manager, the role includes administrative duties, reception and booking management, client liaison, and coordination of hosted shooting events. Responsibilities also extend to assisting with firearms handling (training provided), maintaining a professional clubhouse environment, and contributing to digital marketing through website updates and social media.

This full-time role involves the safe storage, inspection, issue and receipt of NRA and member firearms. It includes ammunition handling, record keeping, and involvement in the NRA’s retail emporium. The position requires a high level of administrative accuracy, including maintaining firearm records in compliance with current legislation using the NRA’s IT and RFD register systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Essential: Previous shooting experience

• Strong administrative skills with attention to detail
