BSSC APPOINTS NEW SECRETARY DESIGNATE
Jeremy Hinde has been appointed secretary designate of the British Shooting Sports Council to succeed Graham Downing on his retirement at the end of 2024.
Jeremy is a former inspector and firearms instructor with the Metropolitan Police. He had a 30-year career with the police and spent more than 20 years performing a variety of armed roles. Latterly, he was responsible for an armed command in the aviation sector covering emergency preparedness, counter-terrorism, and a range of other business. In recent years, he has run his own consultancy business offering specialist training in aviation security.
He is a lifelong target rifle shooter and member of the National Rifle Association, where he is a club instructor and a range conducting officer. He has represented England and Norfolk in fullbore shooting disciplines and Cambridgeshire in smallbore.
Commenting on his appointment, Jeremy said: “I am greatly looking forward to working for the BSSC on behalf of all shooting sports. The role of secretary is a challenging one, and the shooting community is very diverse, but it is an excellent match for me with my upbringing in Norfolk, my policing career in London, and my lifetime of competitive international shooting.”
Graham Downing added: “I am delighted with Jeremy’s appointment. He will be working alongside me over the next two months and has already made a flying start. I am confident that he will serve shooting well when he takes over the reins at the BSSC.”
