BIRMINGHAM PROOF HOUSE ANNOUNCES EXPANSION
The Birmingham Proof House, a historic institution central to the UK’s firearms industry, has announced a significant expansion with the development of a brand-new branch proof house and testing facility. This new site, a secure five -acre freehold, marks a substantial investment in the future of firearm proofing and testing, ensuring the continuation of high standards in the industry.
The new facility, which will complement the existing Birmingham Proof House site located in the city centre, is strategically positioned to provide excellent accessibility. It benefits from transport links to major motorways, including the M42, M40, and M5, making it easily reachable for industry partners and clients.
Designed with modern needs in mind, the facility will boast HGV unloading bays and a large parking area equipped with electric charging points. Additionally, it will feature a ballistics laboratory and 100m test ranges, enhancing the scope and precision of testing services available. The site also offers potential for further development, with plans for workshop and warehouse leasing aimed at supporting the broader industry.
This expansion is expected to bring new opportunities to the region, both in terms of employment and industry collaboration, further solidifying Birmingham’s reputation as a key hub in the UK’s firearms sector.
Simon West, the executive director of The Gun Trade Association, told Gun Trade Insider:
“I commend the Birmingham Proof House for their vision in developing a new facility for the trade. It is rare to see investment of this kind in our industry and this looks like a welcome alternative to travelling all the way into the city (London), as well as offering an impressive and wide range of testing facilities.
“If this can help re -kindle UK’s manufacturing capability, it will help put us all back on the global map.”
