William Evans has confirmed two senior appointments as part of its ongoing development. Canadian businessman Bill Turnbull has taken over as chairman/ director, with no operational changes foreseen as a result of this appointment.
In addition, the company has named Karl Waktare as vice president. Waktare brings more than 30 years of experience in the shooting sports trade, having served 25 years as managing director of GMK Ltd, the Hampshire-based distributor. He also led the team responsible for establishing French brand Le Chameau as a leading premium rubber boot brand in the UK.
Founded in 1883 in St James, William Evans is one of the most recognised names in the British gun trade and today operates retail premises in London’s West End and at Bisley Camp in Surrey.
Commenting on his appointment, Waktare said: “I am delighted to be working with William Evans again, having enjoyed a brief spell with them last autumn. This brand is one of the most recognised names in the British gun trade and has real potential going forward.”
