Founded in 1820, John Dickson & Son is Scotland’s oldest gunmaker and the creator of the distinguished Round-Action shotgun, commissioned by hunters worldwide. The company operates from Dunkeld in Perthshire, known as the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, and specialises in new gun builds, repairs, and restorations.
POSITION BEING RECRUITED:
Apprentice Gun Maker
DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
A full-time apprenticeship role learning the art of best gunmaking through hands-on involvement in new builds, repairs, and restorations. The apprentice will work under the Workshop Manager, undertake machining operations and assembly processes, assist with workshop maintenance and inventory, and contribute to project delivery.
PLACE OF WORK:
Dunkeld, Perthshire, Scotland
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in the gun trade and/or an engineering background preferred
• Enthusiastic approach to learning and craftsmanship
• Valid shotgun and/or firearms certificate
• Polite manner and professional approach to work
SALARY:
Dependent on experience
