BERGARA AND EDGAR BROTHERS: A PRECISION PARTNERSHIP

With the news that Edgar Brothers has partnered with Bergara Rifles, now is the perfect time to take an in-depth look at the Spanish manufacturing giant and explore why adding a Bergara rifle or two to your shelves might be a smart move.

A LEGACY OF PRECISION

Bergara’s journey to becoming a key player in the rifle manufacturing industry began 40 years ago with the foundation of Dikar S. Coop. In the last decade, the Spanish company has taken significant strides forward in high-precision barrel manufacturing. Bergara’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship, paired with the adoption of advanced barrel manufacturing techniques, has elevated it to one of the top suppliers of high-precision barrels for leading rifle brands across Europe and the United States.

With their trademark “barrels that makes the difference,” it was only a matter of time before Bergara moved into the market with its own line of rifles. Their models, such as the B14 Sporter and HMR, have received numerous international awards, significantly broadening the brand’s reach. Today, Bergara is expanding its offerings with new models and series, taking a prominent place in the world of hunting and shooting sports.

CRAFTSMANSHIP FROM THE HEART OF THE BASQUE COUNTRY

Bergara’s headquarters are located in the Basque Country in northern Spain, in a town that shares its name: Bergara. This region, known as the “gunmaking zone,” has a centuries-old heritage in firearms production, which has helped shape the expertise found within the company today. Notably, Basque gunmaking played an important role during the American War of Independence in 1776, supplying arms, ammunition, and technical assistance to the colonists.

Bergara continues to honour this rich tradition of craftsmanship. The company has assembled a team of highly skilled gunsmiths, the Bergara USA team includes former US Marine Corps precision weapons section members, led by Dan Hanus, the former production chief and chief instructor for the section. These individuals bring their real-world expertise to every rifle produced, ensuring top-notch quality and precision.

A MODERN PRODUCTION FACILITY FOR A NEW ERA

Dikar, the parent company of Bergara, recently celebrated the opening of a new state-of-the-art production facility in Arrasate, Spain. As part of the Corporación Mondragon, Dikar sees this new plant as the commencement of the “reload” phase - a renewal of its commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability. Esther Korta, CEO of Dikar, highlighted the company’s transformation into a modern industrial leader while also emphasising the cooperative model, which she described as the “sociocorporate reality of the future.”

For UK firearms dealers, this means even greater confidence in the quality of Bergara’s products and the enduring strength of the Spanish brand.

INNOVATION IN BARREL TECHNOLOGY: CURE CARBON BARREL

Bergara’s new CURE carbon barrel technology combines the resilience of carbon fibre with the precision of steel, improving both heat management and structural integrity for high-performance shooting. Introduced initially through the Bergara Premier line, the technology is now available in models such as the B14² CREST and the Bergara Premier ELEVATE.

The CURE barrels are designed to balance the traditional trade-off between performance and weight. By integrating Bergara’s Cold Bore Technology, these barrels incorporate stainless-steel strands within the carbon fibre to conduct heat more efficiently, reducing barrel temperature by an average of 50 degrees. This innovation also improves the barrel’s straightness and stiffness, providing consistent performance even during extended shooting sessions.

Bergara’s use of advanced carbon materials, long favoured in aerospace and military applications, brings significant innovation to rifle manufacturing, enhancing the standards of accuracy and performance in lightweight rifles. With the introduction of the CURE barrel in the popular B-14 series, Bergara has made this advanced technology accessible to a wider range of shooters, broadening its appeal and reinforcing its place at the cutting edge of firearm technology.

A NEW UK DISTRIBUTION PARTNERSHIP

The partnership between Bergara and Edgar Brothers marks an exciting new chapter for both companies. Tom Heapy, director of shooting sports at Edgar Brothers, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting the alignment between Bergara’s commitment to precision and quality and Edgar Brothers’ history in the shooting industry. “Our longstanding history in the industry allows us to appreciate the superior craftsmanship that Bergara brings to the table. We believe this partnership will not only enhance our product range but also solidify our position as a leading distributor in the market,” Tom said.

Bergara’s collaboration with Edgar Brothers will strengthen its presence in the UK market, providing greater access to its popular models for hunters and competition shooters alike. Under the terms of the agreement, Edgar Brothers will host promotional events and product demonstrations across the UK, giving both new and experienced shooters the chance to experience Bergara’s renowned reliability and performance firsthand. Tom sees these events as an important step in introducing more shooters to the Bergara experience.
