The Gun Trade Association (GTA) has launched a new survey to gather crucial evidence on the state of the UK gun trade.
The Home Office is planning a major overhaul of firearms legislation which could include the convergence of Sections 1 and 2 licensing. Such a move would represent a fundamental shift in the licensing system and could pose an existential threat to the gun trade if not properly understood and challenged. The GTA is concerned to minimise threats to the future health and prosperity of the gun trade.
The survey, led by TDC Research, an independent research company, is designed to shape GTA’s response to any legislative changes on behalf of the gun trade. The survey will also collect accurate economic and related data, to build a clearer picture of the sector’s size, skills base, regional spread and economic contribution.
Stephen Jolly, chief executive of the GTA, said: “This survey will give us the evidence we need to represent the trade more effectively and ensure that decision-makers understand the importance of our industry. We encourage everyone in the trade to take part, as your input will directly shape the strength of our case.”
The GTA is inviting all businesses in the gun trade supply chain to respond including retailers, dealers, distributors, manufacturers, service providers and any other relevant business entities. Completing the survey will take no more than 15 minutes and your time will help build the strong evidence base that is needed.
Responses will remain confidential and used solely to inform the Association’s policy and advocacy work.
The survey can be accessed by scanning the QR code.
