The Gun Trade Association (GTA) has announced the next dates for its popular Registered Firearms Dealer (RFD) training courses, hosted by the association’s technical director, Paul Green. The forthcoming sessions will take place on 10–11 December 2025 and 18–19 February 2026.
The two-day course is designed to support those seeking to establish a firearms business by providing essential knowledge and guidance to help applicants successfully apply for, and attain, their RFD. It also serves as a valuable refresher for existing RFDs, offering an opportunity to revisit best practice principles and reinforce their understanding of the legal and operational responsibilities that come with the role.
Covering a wide range of subjects including firearms law, licensing, antiques, security, marketing, import/export and explosives, the GTA RFD course provides a comprehensive overview of the requirements for trading responsibly within the gun trade. Participants also benefit from the chance to network with others in the sector and exchange insights and experiences over the two days.
Endorsing the course, Sam MacArthur, managing director of Viking Arms, said: “I would highly recommend the GTA RFD course to anyone looking to apply to be a RFD; anyone already trading as an RFD and anyone looking to trade with a RFD. No matter how long you have been in the industry, the landscape is constantly changing as is the law and this course captures every key element to not only ensure Best Practice within the trade but also provide a unique opportunity for discussion and opportunity to ask those strange, no-obvious-answer queries that we all experience every now and again. It is, quite frankly, a ‘no-brainer’ investment and I will be sending more of my staff on the course over the coming months.”
